The quest for weight loss has become an epidemic in America. People of all ages and sizes try anything to shed a few pounds. In a recent Greenfield Online/Ciao Surveys census representative omnibus survey, over 1,000 North American respondents were asked about their experience with attempting to lose a few pounds. Respondents were asked which of the following diets they had tried:
Notably, 5% of respondents stated that they gained weight as a result of the diet, 29% lost a bit of weight, 13% lost a lot of weight, and 53% stayed the same. Out of the respondents who lost weight on one of the diet plans, 16% lost 1-5lbs, 26% lost 6-10lbs, 17% lost 11-15lbs, 15% lost 16-20lbs, 12% lost 21-30lbs, and 14% lost 31+lbs. So often people try to stick to a diet and quickly fall off the wagon. Respondents were asked how much weight they had gained back since their most successful diet.
